I am not African because I was born in Africa, but because Africa was born in me.

Day 1
Tues, July 8th
Welcome Home!

Currently your flight arrives at 7:00 am and if that remains the same the day will go as follows:

I will meet you at the airport and take you to a welcome brunch. Once we eat we will have an orientation to align our plans with your expectations. I will also arrange for the exchange of currency.  Thereafter we will take a driving tour of Accra, scouting the more iconic spots like: Independence Square, Makola Market and Oxford Street.  We will stop a few times to take advantage of photo-ops, but for the most part this is just to get your eyes accustomed to your new environment.

At 3 pm we will check into our hotel and retire for the evening.

Day 2
Tues, July 9th
History & Art Tour

Today will start with a visit to our founding Father, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's Mausoleum.  This will help you to understand the pillars on which Ghana was established, thus the reason it is the destination of choice for African's in the Diaspora.

Next we will go to the Arts Center, an intense, football field size market, specializing in the most exquisite artifacts from the West African region.  We will also visit the Artist Alliance (an art gallery) and a couple boutique shops.

Day 3
Thurs, July 10th
Busua Beach

After breakfast we head to Takoradi, a 5-hour journey to Ghana's best beach!

This destination will help us get our minds right, soaking in all that is Africa and preparing for our visit of the slave dungeon on the following day.

Day 4
Fri, July 11th
Return Through The Door of No Return

Today we're going through the doors of no return. This is a monumental expedition, even for those of us who have done it several times. It helps to quiet your mind and prepare for some guttural emotions.

White on white attire is suggested for today's activities.

Day 4
Fri, July 11th
Naming Ceremony

Once we emerge from the dungeon we will go for our naming ceremony. A local King will conduct the ceremony, giving each African son and daughter their Ghanaian name.

Day 5
Sat, July 12th
Quad Biking

Join the Ruff Ryders Association of Ghana and let's hit these back roads.  Strictly off-road riding in the Aburi mountains, off the beaten path.

Afterwards, we visit the carver's market, a world renowned market for wood carvers and other artisans.

Day 6
Sun, July 13th
Nkyinkyim Outdoor Museum

The museum experience is designed to guide visitors towards healing and restorative justice; healing from the legacies of African enslavement and colonialism.

On our way to the Museum we visit the Ancestral Wall, where we will have lunch.  After visiting the museum we continue on to the Volta region. We should be checked into our hotel by 7 pm.

Day 7
Mon, July 14th
Wli Falls, Volta Region

WLI WATERFALLS is a heavenly sanctuary nestled in a rainforest, in the heart of the Volta Region.

After breakfast we will take a leisurely stroll through the rainforest to get to our destination. After basking in its majesty we will return to our residence for a sleepy afternoon.

Later that evening, after dinner, we will rally around a bonfire.

Day 8
Tue, July 15th
Climb Mt. Afadja

Our journey will be climaxed by a climb to the top of Ghana's tallest mountain.  It's a mere 45-60 minute trek each  way, requiring more mental fitness than physical fitness.  The earlier we start, the easier the trod.

The view from the top and the sense of accomplishment make the effort all worthwhile.

Day 9
Wed, July 16th
Shop Til U Drop

Today is your last chance to make sure you got all your t-shirts, dresses, jewelry, bags, art, wood craft, mudcloth, shea butter, black soap, etc. We're going to start at the carver's market and work our way down to Oxford Street in Osu, where many artisans feature their works.

Day 10
Thur, July 17th

Flight times dictate our departure time, but essentially we check out of the hotel and head to the airport.

Ras AriEl, Tour Director

I put together experiences that are meant to reconnect Africans born in the Diaspora with their ancestral homeland. Thus, I see my guests as long lost sons and daughters of our shared Mother Africa, not like tourists.

On our journey I will reconnect you to your land, your people, your food, your traditions and ultimately to your roots and culture. All-the-while, taking you to the most awe-inspiring sites in Ghana!
