The Sankofa Journey
March 11 - 20, 2025

Ghana was founded by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, a student of Marcus Garvey, which is why the Black Star is the symbol of Ghana.  That Black Star is our modern day North Star, pointing the way to the Promised Land.

This journey is designed to reunite Africa's sons and daughters to their ancestral homeland.

Africa for the Africans at home and abroad.

Day 1
Tues, Mar 11th
Welcome Home!

Your flight arrives at 7:00 am, several hours before check in, so from the airport we're going to visit the  following iconic sites: Independence Square, Nkrumah Mausoleum, & Makola Market

From there I will take y'all to my home where my wife will prepare a proper, Ghanaian welcome meal. Once we've broken bread we will orient ourselves, sort out currency exchange and lay out the plan for the time together.

At 2-3:00 pm we will head to Hillburi, the hotel where you will check in and retire for the day.

Day 2
Wed, Mar 12th
Nkyinkyim Outdoor Museum

The Nkyinkyim Museum is an evolving museum that seamlessly combines African art, history and performance; intangible cultural heritage such as drumming, dancing, traditional rites and food.

The museum experience is designed to guide visitors towards healing and restorative justice; healing from the legacies of African enslavement and colonialism.

The Museum is located 90 minutes outside Accra, so we will leave at 9 am and return by 4 pm.

Day 3
Thurs, Mar 13th
Kakum Canopy Walk

After breakfast we're heading to Cape Coast, a 4-5 hour from Accra.  We will go straight to Kakum National Park where we will have lunch before going on the canopy walk.  This canopy scales over a vast rainforest, offering breathtaking views for those who aren't afraid of heights.

"The feeling of walking these walkways is both thrilling and frightening, offering a unique perspective on the wildlife below. An unforgettable experience for thrill-seekers."

That evening we will check into Coconut Grove Hotel.

Day 4
Fri, Mar 14th
Return Through The Door of No Return

Today we're going through the doors of no return. This is a monumental expedition, even for those of us who have done it several times. It helps to quiet your mind and prepare for some guttural emotions.

Once we emerge from the dungeon we will have lunch at Mabel's Table and from there we will go for our naming ceremony.

White on white attire is suggested for today's activities.

Day 5
Sat, Mar 15th
Sankofa Beach

Sankofa Beach resort is located in the Krokrobite beach community, offering an expanse beach front with miles to explore.  They also have the best restaurant on the entire strip!

Day 6

Waxzin Textiles

Today you will make your own batik (tye dye) t-shirt, a one of kind, designed by you!

This lesson is offered at the Arts Center in Accra, the largest arts and crafts depot in all of Ghana.  After making your own designs you will be able to shop a wide variety of African arts.

Day 7
Mon, Mar 17th
Wli Falls, Volta Region

WLI WATERFALLS is a heavenly sanctuary nestled in a rainforest, in the heart of the Volta Region.

It is a 5 hour drive from Accra, so we will depart at 7 am, arriving there in time for lunch.  After lunch we will take a 45 minute hike to the waterfalls.  Prepare to be swept away...

That evening we check into a Wli Water Heights Hotel, a simple accommodations in the village.

Day 8
Tue, Mar 18th
Climb Mt. Afadja

The dirt road above leads to the base of that mountain and we're climbing to its apex.  It's a 45-60 minute trek each  way, requiring more mental fitness than physical fitness.

The view from the top and the sense of accomplishment make the effort all worthwhile.

Today is your last chance to make sure you got all your t-shirts, dresses, jewelry, bags, art, wood craft, mudcloth, shea butter, black soap, etc. We're going to start at the carver's market and work our way down to Oxford Street in Osu, where many artisans feature their works.

Fill in the form and let us begin your customized Ghana experience.

I put together experiences that are meant to reconnect Africans born in the Diaspora with their ancestral homeland. Thus, I see our guests as long lost sons and daughters of our shared Mother Africa, not like tourists.

My goal is reintegrate you back into your culture by reintroducing you to the land, the people, and the traditions you once held dear.  All-the-while, taking you to the dopest sites Ghana has to offer.

If you're looking for a third-eye-opening experience, look no further!
